Freeview
By 2012 the government will be switching off the old TV and FM analogue service and replacing it with digital.
Freeview is the new digital option for viewing over 60 TV, radio and interactive channels through the use of a digital TV aerial. Most new televisions are Freeview enabled � look for the DVB logo on the TV set � however if you have an older TV set you will need to purchase a Freeview decoder box.
Other than your one off purchase of a Freeview enabled TV or a Freeview decoder box there are no further subscriptions you need to sign up to.
With digital reception, it is imperative that you have a high quality aerial system. Unlike the old analogue system, where a poor signal resulted in grainy pictures, digital TV is not as forgiving. Poor signals with digital will result in no pictures being received at all.
